Summer has gradually arrived. Today at the Little Cub Nursery, we started by learning a song about the body of little tadpoles (xiǎo kē dǒu), followed by a chant about the moment of frogs (qīng wā). The children also jumped (tiào) energetically along with the puppet frogs to the chant!
As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, Teacher (lǎo shī) showed both classes the real rice dumplings (zòngzi), a traditional festival treat. The unique fragrance of the long leaves (yè zi) wrapping the sticky rice filled the room. Each child proudly wore a fragrant sachet (xiāng bāo) shaped like a zòngzi, serving as a protective amulet.
We used rhythm sticks to move to the "Row Your Boat" (huá chuán) song in Mandarin and paraded around the classroom, simulating a Dragon Boat race. We cheered with "jiā yóu!" (charge, keep up the good work!) to motivate our little rowers to paddle with enthusiasm!
We hope the children enjoyed today's lesson and wish everyone celebrating this festival a fantastic time!
