What have we learned in the nursery recently?
As our new term kicked off, we noticed many signs that spring (chūn tiān) was here. First of all, a hungry caterpillar (máo máo chóng) was crawling around looking for fruits like apples (píng guǒ), pears (lí zi), plums (méi zi), strawberries (cǎo méi), and oranges (jú zi).
Once it turned into a butterfly (hú dié), it flitted around the gorgeous flowers (huā) and lush leaves (yè). A ladybird (piáo chóng) also joined the fun, greeting all its pals in the garden, field, pond, and up in the trees.
Then we got our hands dirty with some gardening. We planted carrots (hóng luó bo), potatoes (mǎ líng shǔ), turnips (wú jīng), mushrooms (xiāng gū), and broccoli (huā yē cài) by digging (wā tǔ), seeding (bō zhǒng), watering (jiāo shuǐ), and weeding. Our garden thrived thanks to our little farmers !
And guess what? Another hungry caterpillar made an appearance there too!
We've learned to spot the signs of spring. How about you?
